Why Digestive Enzymes are Important
SV Digestive Enzyme Complex contains a high potency, balanced blend of the key enzymes to assist the body in digesting and assimilating the nutrients in every meal. Enzymes are a delicate lifelike substance found in all living cells whether human, animal or plant. Specialized digestive enzymes, turn the food we eat into energy and unlock this energy for use in the body.
Our bodies naturally produce both digestive as they are needed. Since most of the foods we eat are either cooked or processed (destroying the enzymes contained within the food) our bodies must produce the majority of the digestive enzymes we require, unless we use supplemental enzymes to help in the digestive process. Most digestive enzymes are made by your pancreas, though a few are made by your mouth, stomach, and small intestine.
SV Digestive Enzyme Complex is designed and recommended for individuals who want to fully benefit from the nutrients in the foods they consume, decrease the amount of energy the body utilizes in digestion, increase enzyme potential, and support the functions of the body with a high-quality digestive enzyme blend. Due to its small size it is ideal for those who have difficulty swallowing.
Because digestive enzymes assist with the breakdown of food, supplements might help alleviate common IBS symptoms.
One double-blind study involved 49 people with diarrhea-predominant IBS. Some participants were given a pancreatic lipase supplement called for six meals, while others received a placebo (an inactive supplement). Then the groups were switched. Afterward, the participants had to choose which drug they preferred. About 61 percent of people favored the pancreatic lipase over the placebo.
The group receiving supplement had a significant improvement in cramping, stomach rumbling, bloating, urge to defecate, pain, and loose stools compared to the placebo group. The study was limited by its small size and that it only included people with diarrhea-predominant IBS.
Another study investigated the use of a supplement mixture of beta-glucan, inositol, and digestive enzymes in 90 people. The supplement significantly improved bloating, gas, and abdominal pain in these people, but it didn’t have any effect on other IBS symptoms. The study didn’t include a true placebo group — about half of the participants didn’t receive anything at all during the study. Larger, placebo-controlled trials would be helpful.
